Why I Started Antero: A Better Fit for Taller Men

I'm 6'5" and for as long as I can remember, finding clothes that fit properly has been very difficult.

Not just finding clothes that are long enough but finding clothes that actually fit, look good and feel comfortable.

I've spent countless hours searching online, scrolling through social media, browsing clothing websites and trying different brands, hoping to find something that ticks all the boxes.

More often than not, I've ended up disappointed.

And after years of making compromises, I decided it was time to do something about it.

That's how Antero began.

The Problem With Tall Men's Clothing

One of the biggest frustrations I've experienced is that so much clothing marketed towards taller men seems to focus almost entirely on adding length.

But being tall isn't simply about having longer arms and longer legs. It's about proportion.

With trousers, I've often found that additional length is added to the leg without enough consideration for how the garment fits around the waist, crotch, seat and thighs.

The result can be trousers that are technically long enough but don't sit comfortably, don't move naturally or simply don't look right.

It's a similar story with jackets.

Adding length to the sleeves doesn't automatically create a jacket that fits a taller frame. Shoulder positioning, body length, chest proportions, waist shaping and how material sits across the back all contribute to the overall fit.

I've tried jackets with sleeves that were long enough but too much excess fabric around the back or body. Others felt restrictive, bulky or unnecessarily heavy.

For me, the challenge has never been finding something I can physically get into.

It's finding something I actually want to wear.

Why Finding the Right Fit Was Still Difficult

Over the years, I've tried a wide range of brands, including companies that specifically cater for taller men.

Some have done certain things well, but I've consistently struggled to find the combination of fit, quality, style and comfort I'm looking for.

Some specialist tall clothing I've tried has felt too restrictive in certain areas, with too much material in others. I've also experienced fabrics that felt heavier than I wanted for everyday athleisure.

Mainstream retailers present a different challenge.

Some high-street retailers offer longer-leg options, but often in limited styles and colours. When I've searched for the designs I want, the available inseam lengths haven't always been long enough for me.

Even when I've found premium athleisure I genuinely liked, it hasn't always solved the problem for me.

Some of the longest trousers I've tried still sit just above my ankle. As someone who normally wears a 35–36-inch inseam, that isn't the finish I'm looking for.

And that's the frustrating part.

There are some excellent clothing brands out there. There are brands making tall clothing. There are brands making premium athleisure.

But finding all three together, in a style that suits my taste, has been difficult.

So I Decided to Create My Own

Eventually, I found myself asking a simple question:

If I can't find the clothing I'm looking for, why don't I create it myself?

I wanted to develop something that addressed the frustrations I'd experienced personally.

Not just longer tracksuit trousers.

Not just jackets with extended sleeves.

But premium athleisure designed with taller proportions in mind from the very beginning.

Something understated, modern and versatile. Something that could be worn to the gym, travelling, walking around the city or simply going about everyday life.

I wanted clothing that felt as good as it looked, without the unnecessary bulk, excessive fabric or compromises I'd grown accustomed to.

And importantly, I wanted to create clothing that I would genuinely choose to wear myself.

That became the foundation of Antero.

Six Months of Getting the Details Right

Our first product is the Antero Tall Tracksuit.

It's the result of approximately six months of meticulous planning, development, sampling and refinement.

I didn't want to rush into launching an entire clothing collection. Instead, I wanted to concentrate on getting one product right before moving on to anything else.

Throughout development, I focused on three things:

Fit. Quality. Style.

Every element was considered, from the shape and taper of the trousers to the proportions of the jacket, the feel of the fabric and the overall silhouette.

I wanted a clean, slim fit without feeling restrictive.

A lightweight, premium material without unnecessary bulk.

Trousers that sit properly at the ankle rather than finishing too high.

And a jacket that feels proportionate across the body, not simply longer in the arms.

There have been plenty of challenges along the way, and achieving the result I wanted has taken considerably more work than I initially expected.

But I believe the details matter.

Especially when those details are exactly what has been missing from the clothing I've spent years trying to find.

Designed Around Measurements, Not Just Height

Although Antero was inspired by my own experiences at 6'5", the brand isn't designed exclusively for men of my height.

Our aim is to cater for taller men across a broad range, from approximately 6'2" to potentially 7', depending on their individual measurements and proportions.

Because two men of exactly the same height can have completely different body shapes and leg lengths.

One might have particularly long legs. Another might have a longer torso. Another might need additional room around the chest or shoulders.

That's why I don't believe height alone should determine what size someone wears.

Our first tracksuit has been developed with men who typically wear longer inseams, including those in the 33–38-inch range, and offers Tall and Extra Tall trouser options.

We've also made it possible to choose jacket and trouser sizes independently, rather than forcing customers into a fixed tracksuit set.

To help customers find the right combination, we've developed sizing and fit guidance that considers their usual measurements.

The objective is simple: make it easier for taller men to find clothing that genuinely suits their proportions.

Why We've Started With One Tracksuit

I have ambitions to grow Antero into a wider premium menswear brand but I want to build it properly.

Rather than launching numerous products at once, I've deliberately chosen to begin with one carefully developed tracksuit in black.

A timeless, versatile product that reflects the style and standards I want Antero to represent.

Our plan is to introduce further products in early 2027, building on everything we've learned through the development of our first collection.

But the principle will remain the same.

I don't want Antero to become a brand that simply makes ordinary clothes longer.

I want it to become a brand that understands how taller men want their clothes to fit, feel and look.

Built for Height. Designed for Proportion.

Antero started with a personal frustration but I know I'm not the only man who has experienced it.

If you're tall, you'll probably recognise the feeling of finding a jacket you love only to discover the sleeves are too short.

Or finding trousers that fit your waist perfectly but finish several inches above where you'd like them to.

Or spending hours searching online and eventually settling for something that's almost right.

I started Antero because I was tired of settling.

I believe taller men should have access to the same choice, quality and style as everyone else, without having to compromise on fit.

We're a newly launched independent British brand and this is just the beginning.

If you've experienced the same frustrations, I hope you'll take a look at what we're building.

And if there's something you'd love to see from Antero in the future, I'd genuinely welcome your feedback.

After all, this brand was created to solve a problem.

And I want the people who understand that problem to help shape where we go next.
